TEACHING AT THE PRE-SCHOOL
Cultures and Beliefs
Boomerang Kids actively explores, acknowledges, values and welcomes all religions and cultures.
We celebrate birthdays and give the children a small gift from the Pre-school. Please do not bring in cakes or sweets for these occasions.
We say a short ‘grace’ before snack and lunch. This helps to create a routine and is particularly helpful for children who attend both settings.
What we hope the Children learn
We work towards the children becoming ready for "primary" school. We do this through structured play, free play and craft projects.
We expect the children to start to develop a sense of their own value in the world, taking pleasure in the company of other children and adults. We encourage them to learn to operate within the group, coming to terms with their own feelings and finding acceptable ways to express them.
This is done through kindness, compassion towards others and self-controlled, thoughtful and polite behaviour. The staff here create positive role models for the children.
During their time here, we assist the children in beginning to understand how their bodies work and develop their co-ordination skills, particularly with regards to manual dexterity.
We help the children to find ways of solving their problems themselves, seeing adults as a useful resource in their quest for answers. We encourage them to respect and value people from all cultural, religious and racial backgrounds and think about the ways that people all over the world communicate with one another.
We aim for your child's time here with us to be exciting, a time for them to be allowed the freedom to experiment in exploring their world without the fear of getting things wrong.
Parental Involvement
We actively encourage two-way communication between home and Pre-school.We have parent/carer consultations twice a year. We also use home/school diaries for two way communication. Staff aim to write in diaries at least once per week. Please feel free to add any comments from home.
Parents/carers are kept up to date with what's going on at the CEYCP courses via the notice boards, there's also access to information about the Families Information Service (FIS). Courses for parents are available, please ask the manager if you are interested.
On a Tuesday afternoon 1-3pm the Health Visitors hold a clinic on site. Please feel free to drop in with any under 5yr old queiries.
