Our Curriculum
Curriculum and Learning
At Boomerang Kids, we believe that every child has the potential to thrive. Therefore, we strive to create engaging and thought-provoking experiences, complemented by inviting play opportunities both indoors and outdoors. Importantly, our curriculum considers each child’s individual interests and needs, guided by Development Matters, the Government’s framework for learning in the Early Years.
Our curriculum encompasses seven areas of learning and development, which include both Prime and Specific areas:

Prime Areas
-
Communication and Language
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
-
Physical Development

Specific Areas
-
Literacy
-
Mathematics
-
Understanding the World
-
Expressive Arts and Design

Initially, children begin their journey by focusing on the three Prime areas. As they grow, these foundational skills naturally support their development in the four Specific areas. Moreover, we break down development into achievable goals, allowing each child to progress at their own comfortable pace.

At Boomerang Kids, we thoughtfully plan hands-on, real-life experiences through a language-rich curriculum that nurtures the skills children need to thrive in society.
In addition, we embrace a seasonal approach to planning, celebrating the beauty of nature’s cycles. For instance, we enjoy various visits within our local community, allowing children to observe, monitor, and reflect on the changes throughout the year.
Furthermore, outdoor learning is a cherished part of our program, whether in the community or in our own outdoor classroom, “Little Explorers.” Additionally, our indoor classrooms are carefully constructed to promote all areas of learning, development, and independence. Ultimately, our goal is to provide rich and purposeful experiences that prepare our children for a smooth transition into Reception year at school.

We also value close partnerships with parents and carers, enabling them to reflect on their child’s progress. Each year, parents receive two detailed spotlight reports that cover all areas of their child’s development. Notably, these reports serve as a wonderful tool for discussion, helping us to determine the best support for each child. Furthermore, parents can access long observations through Tapestry, our online journal system, which offers meaningful insights into their child’s interests, along with those special “WOW” moments that make parents proud.
Key Person
We operate a family grouping at Boomerang Kids. As soon as your child joins us, they will be allocated a group and introduced to their Key Persons.
The role of the Key-person is primarily to support your child in the setting. There will be at least two Key Persons in each group; which means your child will always have a familiar adult around.
